Liverpool have been handed a timely lift ahead of their Premier League meeting with Manchester United, as Andy Robertson appears to have allayed any injury concerns following the defeat to Chelsea. The left-back’s apparent limp at full time raised fears of another setback, yet his swift return to international duty has eased those worries.

Robertson, who replaced Milos Kerkez in the second half of Liverpool’s 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge, seemed in discomfort during stoppage time before Estevao’s decisive goal. However, any suggestion of a layoff has now been dismissed. The defender has joined up with the Scotland squad for their World Cup qualification double-header against Greece and Belarus, confirming his availability.

Speaking to Scotland’s official YouTube channel, Robertson said, “I can’t wait. It feels ages since we have been back here, especially for a meaningful game, a competitive game. Me and the boys just can’t wait to be back out in front of the fans and give them something to shout about.”
His inclusion in the national setup effectively signals that he is fit to play, offering a huge boost for Arne Slot, who has navigated a string of early-season injury challenges.
Robertson’s return to full fitness now presents Slot with a positive yet testing dilemma. Kerkez, who started in the loss to Chelsea, was widely criticised by Gary Neville, who said on Sky Sports, “Kerkez looks like a youth team player. I know he’s a good player but he looks like he’s playing for the U21s. He looks so naive; he looks like a baby out there.”

With Robertson available, Slot must decide whether to reinstate his vice-captain for the upcoming Anfield showdown with Manchester United or continue his integration of the Hungarian full-back.
Robertson is not the only defensive positive for Liverpool. Ibrahima Konate, who limped off at Stamford Bridge with a quad issue, has also joined his international side, indicating that his problem is not serious. Both players returning to full fitness provides a welcome sense of stability as Liverpool aim to maintain momentum heading into the Manchester United clash on October 19.
For Slot, the challenge now lies in balancing recovery and rhythm, ensuring that Robertson’s energy and leadership are harnessed at just the right moment in Liverpool’s campaign.
