Liverpool are expected to conduct a massive midfield refit this summer.

We’ve seen plenty of top stars linked with an incoming move to Anfield - including Lamine Camara, Adam Wharton and Andoni Iraola’s former star pupil Alex Scott.

In order to accommodate new arrivals however there will be a need for departures. Following a £450m transfer campaign last summer - and more spending in the works - Richard Hughes will be keen to claw back as much money as possible through sales.

Jones to be sold to Inter

And the contenders to depart the midfield include Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones. Macca, 27, is under contract until 2028 but there is little prospect of the Argentina FIFA World Cup winner signing a new deal.

That leaves the sporting director with a shrinking window to sell the No10 - meaning he could leave this summer.

The biggest alarm however is around Jones. The 25-year-old is only under contract until 2027 and was linked with a move to Tottenham or Inter Milan in January.

No deal was ultimately done but the Italian champions are now extremely keen to have the England midfield on board for preseason in July.

A new meeting is planned for next week according to Nicolo Schira - with a gap still remaining between what Liverpool want for Jones and what Inter are willing to pay.

A deal could be done around £26m but Inter so far haven’t got that high in talks. Despite the difference in valuation it would appear that Jones has ALREADY agreed terms on his Inter contract - and is set to ink a five-year deal at San Siro.

Curtis Jones agrees to sign five-year deal with Inter

“Expected direct talks next week between Inter and Liverpool to try to reach an agreement for Curtis Jones, who is still Inter’s main target as midifelder,” he writes on X.

“Inter have agreed personal terms with Jones for a contract until 2031 and are waiting for LFC’s green light.”

Jones has struggled to get into the Liverpool team in his preferred midfield position - with Arne Slot using him at right-back towards the end of the season.

He will be hoping for a central role under Cristian Chivu in Serie A - and Liverpool will be able to bank the fee and put it towards new signings.
