"Fallows initially chose to delay his decision and remain in post to assist with the transition of the new football leadership team before leaving", the club wrote in a statement.

"With that process now navigated, he has chosen to bring an end to his successful tenure as a key figure in Liverpool’s football operations structure by the end of this year."

A replacement is yet to be announced by the club.
