Liverpool will allow Harvey Elliott to leave the club for a fee of £40m this summer, provided a buy-back option is included in the deal.
Elliott is in demand after starring during this summer’s u-21 European Championship. The 22-year-old scored five times as England defended the title and was named Player of the Tournament in Slovakia.
Elliott is currently considering his options after struggling for first-team football last season. He started just twice in the Premier League, each of which came after Liverpool were confirmed as Premier League champions.
The £116m British transfer record arrival of Florian Wirtz has further increased competition for places in midfield.
Several sides are targeting a deal for Elliott and The Athletic have confirmed Liverpool’s valuation of the player. The Reds will demand a fee of £40m for Elliott, on the condition any sale includes a buy-back options.
Liverpool have also included a buy-back clause in the £34m sale of Jarell Quansah to German side Bayer Leverkusen.
If sides are unwilling to agree to a buy-back, Liverpool will demand a fee in excess of £50m for the player.
RB Leipzig are among the sides weighing up an approach for Elliott, while there is considerable interest from the Premier League. West Ham, Brighton and former club Fulham have all been linked.
Elliott is keen to continue playing at the highest level possible, though guaranteed minutes will be the central factor in his decision after a frustrating period at Anfield. He is contracted to Liverpool until 2027.
