Mo Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. The Reds are lining up a star to replace him.
How do you replace Mohamed Salah? The answer, unfortunately, is that you don’t. No player can do what he’s done for Liverpool and trying to sign a like-for-like replacement is useless.
Instead, Liverpool will need to reshape their side to suit the lack of Salah. Signing a player to fill the right flank is a must, but that player will be a different style to the Egyptian.
And it seems the club recognises that. They appear to be abandoning the superstar direction that many predict them to take, with the likes of Michael Olise linked.
Instead, SportBild claims they’re scouting Hoffenheim’s Bazoumana Toure. The winger is more of a creator than a goalscorer, looking to provide assists for those in the middle.
That’s in opposition to Salah, who prefers to be the main-man scoring the goals (even if he is also a world-class creator, too). Liverpool, then, may splash the cash on a bit of a ‘support’ player, rather than a leading man.
They’ve made steps in this direction, with the report saying they’ve scouted Toure relatively heavily of late. Don’t be surprised if he’s the one taking Salah’s spot this summer.
Breakout Season and Performance
Bazoumana Touré has emerged as one of the Bundesliga's most exciting young prospects during the 2025–2026 campaign with TSG Hoffenheim. As of April 8, 2026, the 20-year-old Ivorian winger has registered an impressive 11 assists and two goals in 24 league appearances, becoming the creative engine for Christian Ilzer's side. His technical flair and vision were further highlighted during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored two goals in just three appearances for Ivory Coast. Following a standout performance in a recent 1–0 international friendly win over Scotland, Touré has cemented his place as a likely inclusion in the Elephants' squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
Transfer Speculation and Liverpool Interest
Touré’s rapid rise has made him a top summer target for several European giants, with Liverpool reportedly leading the race to secure his signature. According to reports from Sport Bild on April 8, Arne Slot’s side views the winger as a primary candidate to succeed Mohamed Salah, who is set to depart Anfield this summer. While Touré is under contract until 2029 with no release clause, Hoffenheim is reportedly prepared to consider offers in the region of €40 million. Although Arsenal, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich are also monitoring his situation, Liverpool scouts have been particularly active, recently attending his international fixtures to finalise their evaluation before a potential summer bid.
