Liverpool will look to end a run of three straight Premier League defeats when they make the journey to Brentford on Saturday evening (8pm kick-off – live on TNT Sports 1).
After winning their opening five league games, losses at Crystal Palace and Chelsea and then at home to Manchester United have left the Reds four points off the pace in the title race.
Arne Slot’s men now face a Brentford team that could include a number of their former Anfield team-mates.
The likes of Jordan Henderson, Caoimhin Kelleher, Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg have all played key roles for the Bees.
Brentford are looking for back-to-back wins under Keith Andrews for the first time after their 2-0 away success at West Ham, and a victory would likely propel them into the top-half of the table.
Predicted Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Mamardashvili; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Wirtz; Salah, Ekitike, Gakpo.
Liverpool are not expected to have Alisson back until early November, the Brazilian goalkeeper having missed his side’s last three games.
Slot has suggested that the former Roma star will be out for the rest of the month, with Giorgi Mamardashvili expected to continue between the posts.
Ryan Gravenberch missed the Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt and the midfielder is unlikely to be risked after suffering an ankle injury against Manchester United.
Both Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring) and Alexander Isak (groin) picked up problems in midweek and are not expected to feature at Brentford.
The form, or the lack of it, of Mohamed Salah has been one of the big talking points for Liverpool fans this season.
Last season’s leading Premier League goalscorer has only scored three goals in 13 matches in all competitions, with one of those coming from the penalty spot in the late win at Burnley.
The Egyptian star, who signed a new contract at Anfield earlier this year, has looked a shadow of the player who scored 29 league goals last term and played a big role in Liverpool winning the title.
Having been dropped to the bench for the European fixture in Frankfurt, a groin injury suffered by summer signing Alexander Isak could see Salah return on Saturday.
Slot has often preferred to play with three attacking players, rather than two up top, and that means the PFA Player of the Year could return at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Salah has scored six goals against Brentford during his Liverpool career, including a strike in last season’s 2-0 win at Anfield.
