Liverpool to immediately PROMOTE star into first-team squad

Liverpool have promoted one academy star into their first-team squad with immediate effect. Another option for Arne Slot.

It's been a difficult season for Arne Slot to manage given Liverpool's injuries. It feels as though a new one is just around the corner at any given moment and it's going to upset things.

Alisson Becker being out at the start of the season is one example. Having both right-back options out for a period was another, as was battling Alexander Isak's lack of fitness.

But the worst of it has come from serious, season-ending injuries. Liverpool have had at least two of those, with Isak a potential third.

Giovanni Leoni's knee injury on his impressive Liverpool debut upset the plans at centre-back. Now Conor Bradley has stretched things even thinner with his own knee injury - neither will play again this season.

The Reds have had to react to the latter by changing their options at right-back. Not through a transfer, however, but through a promotion.

Calvin Ramsay promoted

The Daily Mail reports that Calvin Ramsay will not be allowed to leave Liverpool this month. He's now going to provide 'another option' to Arne Slot in light of Bradley's injury.

Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that Ramsay will play every week. He may not play at all. But he is going to be in the first-team setup and expand the squad, taking Bradley's role.

It is undoubtedly the right move here. Ramsay is a very talented right-back and one who could still revitalise his career at Anfield. Honestly, that's maybe the only positive coming out of the Bradley situation.

He can get some minutes here and there, as he did in the Carabao Cup, and potentially force his way to even more minutes. Ramsay, after all, is a wonderfully creative right-back when he's at his best.

And that's extra important given Liverpool's form this season. Their struggles have forced Slot into packing his midfield as much as possible in an effort to solidify the team.

He can't do that if the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones are off playing games at right-back. Ramsay, then, provides a welcome boost to the whole squad.
