Richard Hughes has done it, a brilliant double transfer is coming to Liverpool.
The club's current sporting director may not be here for long, with Al Hilal rumoured to be his next destination beyond the summer, but that doesn't mean Hughes' work cannot be appreciated.
Last summer he delivered what looked like a largely successful summer window for Liverpool, and could still prove to be.
Hughes brought in remarkable young talents, who will likely be the spine of Andoni Iraola's team going forward.
Last season, may have been disappointing given the club's massive expenditure but transfers usually need more than a year or two to be properly judged.
That is not to say though that Hughes isn't up against it at the moment.
Let's face it, this transfer window hasn't quite lived up to expectations for Liverpool.
There's still plenty of time for things to change, but compared to this stage last summer, it's been a much quieter ride. This time a year ago, Liverpool were making headlines with the arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, while Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak also looked well on their way to Anfield.
There was a real buzz around the club, so it's no surprise supporters were expecting another aggressive summer in the market.
Instead, Liverpool now look set to miss out on Yan Diomande. The latest reports suggest the highly-rated Ivorian is favouring a move to Paris Saint-Germain, leaving the Reds searching for another solution.
Perhaps that's just the reality of where Liverpool are at. The club is still thinking long-term, and Diomande felt like exactly the kind of signing that fit the recruitment model. He wasn't expected to replace Mohamed Salah overnight, but he had all the ingredients to develop into one of Europe's top forwards.
That's what makes missing out so frustrating.
There simply aren't many players with his profile available, especially when it comes to natural right-wingers. Finding someone capable of eventually taking over from Salah is one of the toughest challenges in football, and the list of genuine candidates is remarkably short.
If Diomande does end up in Paris, Liverpool's recruitment team will have to come up with another solution - and that won't be easy.
But people should also remind themselves that Liverpool are not in the worst position possible. Hughes has still done great work to set this summer up as a successful one.
Most of his work was already done six months ahead of time.
In January Hughes made two signings who Liverpool have had to wait for. He secured the services of Jeremy Jacquet and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
The former's transfer was delayed because Rennes wanted to keep the talented 20-year-old meanwhile the latter had to wait until he was 18-years-old before he could link-up with the club as per FIFA rules.
At the time when Liverpool needed a centre-back, signing these two players, who wouldn't be able to help the team out immediately seemed like a bad call.
But in reality it was a genius move. Ndukwe and Jacquet are two of their generations best young centre-backs. The fact that Liverpool signed both of them is a huge coup and a massive credit to Hughes.
They are generational players and they have already arrived at Liverpool. Both Ndukwe and Jacquet are at the AXA training centre one week ahead of pre-season, which begins on Monday.
The special duo are now well and truly on their way and we will be seeing them at Anfield very soon.
