Liverpool host Brentford at Anfield to conclude their turbulent Premier League campaign.
Arne Slot’s side currently sit fifth in the table. They need just one point to mathematically secure Champions League football next season. Meanwhile, Brentford travel to Merseyside chasing historic European qualification. Keith Andrews’ team remain in the hunt for a Europa League or Conference League spot.
However, they must overcome a dreadful historical record at Anfield to achieve that dream. This match also marks the highly emotional farewells of Liverpool legends Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
Arne Slot hopes to welcome Alisson Becker and Alexander Isak back to his matchday squad. Both players returned to full training this week following brief injury layoffs. Jeremie Frimpong remains a major doubt after missing the recent defeat against Aston Villa. Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Wataru Endo, and Giovanni Leoni remain long-term absentees.
Keith Andrews reported zero changes to his squad availability ahead of the season finale. Full-back Rico Henry remains completely sidelined with an ongoing hamstring issue. Former Liverpool attacker Fabio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo are recovering from severe knee injuries.
Liverpool enter the final day desperate to end a miserable four-game winless streak. The Reds recently suffered a 4-2 defeat against Aston Villa. That result means they have conceded 52 league goals during a disastrous title defence.
They have lost 19 games across all competitions this season. Another defeat today would mark their worst overall campaign since the 1992-93 season. However, they remain unbeaten in their final league game across the last 10 seasons.
Brentford arrive in poor form, securing just one victory from their last nine Premier League matches. The Bees have also failed to win any of their last four away fixtures. Furthermore, they have failed to score in their last six trips to Anfield.
Despite those struggles, Igor Thiago poses a massive attacking threat. The striker has scored 41% of Brentford’s league goals this term. The visitors hope to complete a historic league double over Liverpool after winning 3-2 in October.
Liverpool Predicted XI: Alisson; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Ngumoha; Gakpo
Brentford Predicted XI: Kelleher; Kayode, Van den Berg, Collins, Lewis-Potter; Yarmoliuk, Henderson; Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade; Thiago
