It’s not always the headlines or the goals that define Dominik Szoboszlai, but inside Liverpool, his influence is clearly being felt in ways supporters don’t always see.

That’s been underlined by young goalkeeper Armin Pecsi, who has opened up on just how important our No.8 has been since his arrival at the club.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Pecsi made it clear that the Hungarian midfielder has played a key role in helping him settle both on and off the pitch.
He said: “They helped me a lot, especially Dom because he’s here for a longer time. He helped me a lot.”
That kind of support matters more than most fans realise, particularly for a young player arriving in a new country, a new league and a completely different environment.
The 21-year-old stopper also revealed that having Szoboszlai around made communication easier, especially in the early stages of adapting to life at the AXA Training Centre.
He added: “When I want to ask him something or get help, he always helps me. I think we get along good.”
It paints a picture of a player who isn’t just influential on the pitch, but someone who actively raises standards around him – which is why Arne Slot is also such a big fan.
Beyond the off-field impact, Pecsi also gave a fascinating insight into what it’s like facing Szoboszlai in training on a daily basis.
The goalkeeper explained: “You can expect from any distance he will go for power! But he will also go for accuracy.”
That combination of technique and unpredictability is something we’ve seen time and time again in matches, and it’s clearly just as difficult to deal with in training.
Pecsi even suggested that the Hungarian’s shooting ability is now recognised across world football, adding: “Hungarians knew it before but now I think everybody in England who likes football and maybe everyone in world football knows. He has a unique strike.”
That aligns with what we’ve already seen this season, with Szoboszlai not only influencing games but also setting standards within the squad.
With the midfielder recently speaking about his dream of reaching a Champions League final in Budapest, it’s clear he’s thinking big.
And if his impact on teammates like Pecsi is anything to go by, he’s helping to drag others along with him.
