Liverpool’s Arne Slot Makes PSG Blunt Admission Impacting Alexander Isak | OneFootball

Last season, PSG went through a gauntlet of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool. The French giants would eliminate the Reds along wth Aston Villa and Arsenal to win the UEFA Champions League.

PSG would beat Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup, so outside of Chelsea, who beat the Ligue 1 side in the FIFA Club World Cup final, English clubs had a challenging time against Luis Enrique and his team.

Nonetheless, Liverpool used the defeat at the hands of PSG to bolster their squad that will be looking to win a treble of their own with the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and others joining their squad.

Slot, who probably wasn’t expecting to be eliminated in the Round of 16 in the Champions League, admitted that PSG have impacted how he’s coaching, considering he wants Alexander Isak and his teammates to emulate what PSG have done in terms of pressing.

“The main challenge [Isak] has is to become so fit, that he is first of all ready to do what he did last season,” Slot said while speaking to reporters on Tuesday. “Speaking about PSG, I was mainly impressed by the way they press… now going one step further in terms of pressing. That’s what he needs to do.”

Liverpool and PSG will not clash in the league phase of the Champions League. However, it would be interesting to see if these two sides have a rematch in the knockout stage. Both teams started the competition with Marchday 1 wins to get off on the right foot.
