This always had the look of an interesting and unpredictable season – and interesting and unpredictable seasons are always a good chance to make some money betting.
Jurgen Klopp had left Liverpool, Man City had legal challenges hanging over them, Man U stuck with a lame duck manager, Tottenham are up and down, Aston Villa plus a host of other mid table teams have strengthened and look a real force., plus of course Chelsea with a new manager once again. It was bound to be a different sort of season and so it’s proved to be.
Whether you’re using bitcoin betting sites or just a high street bookie, there’s a huge amount of opportunity out there as the odds adjust to the new realities. Liverpool look great, Arsenal’s impressive sheen is fading, City look like they won’t lose points in court – but are losing them on the pitch. Chelsea are better than expected, Tottenham are… still up and down.
If you were backing teams for a title charge at this point you’d have to consider Chelsea at least in the mix as an outsider. It seems at this stage that Arne Slot’s consistent and well drilled Liverpool team are going to take advantage of slow starts elsewhere to just motor to end in first place. But they hardly look unbeatable or incapable of a major wobble. Chelsea could quite easily significantly close the gap in the next few weeks alone.
The Reds have a soft return from the international break this weekend because Southampton are next on the agenda. But a triple header to follow that could be just what we need to open this title race up again – a game against Man City and a visit to St James’ Park to face Newcastle, followed by an early kick off at Goodison Park against rivals Everton, all following on from a Champions League game against Real Madrid next Wednesday.
That’s a 4 pack of games which could potentially throw this unpredictable season into a new level of chaos. League games after that against Fulham and Tottenham to take the Reds up to Christmas don’t look easy either. If Enzo Maresca’s team can get their heads down and put together an impressive run of their own in the same period, there’s no reason they can’t significantly close the 9 point gap on Slot’s team and put themselves into a genuine title race, way ahead of schedule.
