London Academicals 2 Brentford Women B 8: Robertson and Wood hat-tricks seal JGMT Cup win | OneFootball

Brentford Women B progressed to the fourth round of the JGMT Cup with a dominant 8-2 away victory over London Academicals.

Captain Georgia Wood and Leah Robertson both scored hat-tricks, with Justine Buckmire and Kasha Petit also getting on the scoresheet to seal the third round win.

It was a rapid start from Tommy Ryan-Maynard's side, who scored within the first minute when Maria Barbosa found Wood from her corner, the latter firing home on the volley to set the tone for the day.

It took them half an hour to get their second, when the ball fell to Petit on the edge of the box and she drove into the box and finished well.

A minute later and Alicia Henry slipped in Robertson who rounded the keeper to tap into an open net to make it 3-0.

The floodgates had opened; on 34 minutes the Bees had a fourth when Buckmire scored a stunning solo goal. She picked the ball up on the halfway line, carried the ball to the edge of the box and curled an effort into the top-left corner.

London Academicals did find some hope on 37 minutes when the referee pointed to the spot for a handball and the home side converted into the bottom corner.

That hope was short-lived though as two minutes before the break, Kirsty Matthews won the ball inside the box from a scrappy corner and found Woods who poked home her second of the day to make it 5-1.

The west Londoners picked up where they left off - two minutes after the restart and Robertson doubled her tally for the day, latching on to a free-kick from goalkeeper Evie Thorne Ford and slotting home to make it six.

On 52 minutes, Robertson completed her hat-trick, tapping in after Karina Hlek squared the ball to her from regaining the rebound from a saved effort.

Robertson then ensured that there would be two three-goal hauls in the game, setting up Wood at the back post to make it 8-1.

London Academicals got a consolation goal on 61 minutes, but it was a resounding win from Ryan-Maynard's side who cruised into the fourth round of the League Cup.

The Bees are next in action on Sunday (3pm kick-off GMT), when they host Richmond Park Under-18s at Bedfont and Feltham Social Club in the Capital Cup.
