London City Lionesses sign OL Lyonnes defender Sangaré on loan | OneFootball

London City Lionesses have completed the signing of OL Lyonnes defender Wassa Sangaré on a season-long loan arrangement.

The Pride announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website this evening.

The 19-year-old is a product of the OL Lyonnes academy system. She played some senior minutes for the club as they won the 2023/2024 French Arkema Première Ligue title. Sangaré spent some of last season furthering her development in a loan spell at Le Havre AC.

On the international stage, Sangaré has represented France at various youth levels up to and including Under-19 level.

After joining London City Lionesses, Sangaré said “When London City contacted me, I didn’t hesitate to come because it is a beautiful, ambitious project.

“The WSL is one of the best leagues at the moment. There is a lot of fans who come to the games, and it will be exciting to play in the large stadiums, the best stadiums in the world.

“I’m excited to play with Daniëlle [van de Donk] as she was at Lyon, and she is a good teammate.

“I’m happy to be here and I am excited to start.”

Sangaré is London City Lionesses’ 15th signing of the summer transfer window.
