It has been a while since we journeyed to Altach - a good 589 days, in fact. While this Sunday (9 March) at 17:00 CET we are at the Cashpoint Arena for our final away fixture of the regular season, we opened the last campaign at Altach.
We took a trouble-free 2-0 win back then under the torrential rain. It was a closer-run affair in our first meeting of this season in Salzburg. The side led by former Liefering coach Fabio Ingolitsch had a surprise lead for a long time at the Red Bull Arena. Only in the final few minutes did we manage to turn the tie – with Edmund Baidoo (84') and Karim Konate (86') ensuring for a 2-1 home win.
The current form suggests we should take another win. Altach were already bottom of the table when they travelled to Rapid Vienna last weekend and lost 0-5. They have only one home win (in August against WAC) this season. We have been growing in confidence in recent weeks, on the other hand - making up ground on both first-placed Sturm Graz and Austria Vienna in second.
We cannot underestimate our clash on Sunday in any way, however. Every point counts when it comes to making up ground on the top of the table, and anything less than three points would not be enough for our ambitious boys!
The clash will be broadcast on Sky Sport Austria, and OneFootball internationally, as usual. We will provide live text updates on our website. Fans wanting to come and support us there can find everything they need to know in our away info article.

Altach really need points to climb off the bottom of the table, and we need them to get ourselves in a good position for the start of the championship round. The most important thing in this match will be that we are focused and concentrated from the very first moment. We want to build on the final phase against Sturm Graz. We have performed well twice in a row against top teams and got three points each time. We want to do that in Altach too.

We want to continue our run in Altach, of course, and win there too. Our aim is to get as many points as possible in the regular season to put ourselves in the best possible situation for the championship group. We need the perfect attitude at Altach though and can't think that it will be easier than it was against Austria Vienna or Sturm Graz.
