According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Real Federación Española de Fútbol president Rafael Louzán said the 2030 World Cup final, to be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, will be played in Spain.
Taking the stage to collect an award from the Asociación de la Prensa Deportiva de Madrid, he said Spain would lead the tournament and underlined the country’s record in staging major events.
He referred to organisational problems witnessed during the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, while acknowledging Morocco’s transformation and excellent stadiums. He said some scenes had harmed the image of world football.
Looking ahead, he framed 2030 as the centenary, marking 100 years since the first World Cup in Uruguay. He said Spain must be up to the occasion.
He added that the RFEF aims to deliver the best World Cup in history and said work is under way to achieve that in 2030.
