Having made only 13 appearances in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain this season (12 starts), Lucas Beraldo (22) does not currently appear capable of challenging the established hierarchy in central defence.
And with good reason, since the Brazilian defender has not yet managed to convince Luis Enrique that he could be a viable option to deputise for Marquinhos (31) and Willian Pacho (24), the undisputed starters, whose performances are beginning to raise some questions. A difficult situation for Beraldo to swallow, who, according to L’Équipe, is said to be more preoccupied with a falling out with one of his young teammates — whose name has not been leaked — than with the idea of fighting for his place.
That would partly explain why he has only played in one match, the Rouge et Bleu’s 3-0 victory over FC Metz, during a busy February with six matches already played.
Having arrived in France from FC São Paulo two years ago, the Brazilian international, who has five caps to his name, has made 75 appearances (four goals) for PSG.
