Lucas Digne concedes penalty, Mikel Oyarzabal scores as France trail Spain in World Cup semi-final | OneFootball

France started well but fell behind when Lucas Digne conceded a penalty converted by Mikel Oyarzabal in the World Cup semi-final against Spain in Dallas on Tuesday.

The incident came early as Digne tried to clear a looping ball from the left of the box and did not see Lamine Yamal closing in. The winger nipped in and, as he moved the ball away, Digne caught him unintentionally. As reported by L'Équipe, France appealed for a prior handball by the Barcelona player.

Oyarzabal took responsibility from the spot and faced Mike Maignan. The Milan goalkeeper went the right way but could not keep out the powerful finish low to his left.

Maignan had been decisive from the spot in the 4-1 group win over Norway, but this time he was beaten despite guessing correctly.

Spain led, and the breakthrough arrived just before the first cooling break.
