Warren Zaïre-Emery made his World Cup bow on Thursday, coming on in the 71st minute as France beat Morocco 2-0 in the quarter-final. Several team-mates are still waiting for their first minutes.

According to L'Équipe, four France players are yet to play, the goalkeepers Brice Samba and Robin Risser, plus Lucas Hernandez and N'Golo Kanté.

Samba and Risser have remained on the bench so far, a situation unlikely to change with only a semi-final and a possible final or third-place play-off to come.

Didier Deschamps previously handed World Cup minutes to Steve Mandanda in 2018 and 2022, even though he was number two behind Hugo Lloris.

France have already played 6 matches at this tournament.
