Lucas Paquetá is viewed as a step below Brazil’s main 2026 World Cup cohort, though still in contention, according to ESPN. Carlo Ancelotti has outlined his early thinking on the final squad.

The report adds that Alex Sandro, also from Flamengo, is under consideration, while Hugo Souza, Bento and Andrey could feature in Ancelotti’s choices.

It lists 11 players as already assured of places, namely Alisson, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Vini Jr, Estêvão, Raphinha, Rodrygo, Matheus Cunha and Gabriel Martinelli. That would leave five remaining spots.

The tournament begins on 11 June in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Brazil open on 13 June against Morocco in New Jersey, kick-off 19:00 Brasília time. They then face Haiti on 19 June and Scotland on 24 June in Group C.

Meanwhile Paquetá stays focused on Flamengo as he looks to strengthen his case. Flamengo host Internacional on Wednesday four, the second round of the Brasileirão, with kick-off at 19:00 at the Maracanã.
