Winger Luis Díaz has impressed across the board at FC Bayern and has now been named the best new summer signing of 2025
Luis Díaz has hit FC Bayern like a bomb. The Colombian international has taken the German record champions‘ attack to a new level in a very short space of time and is now regarded as one of the decisive factors in Munich’s sporting success. The 28-year-old has now been rewarded for his strong performances: the GOAL portal has named Díaz the best new signing of the 2025 summer transfer window
The path to this was anything but smooth. When Bayern dug deep into their pockets to sign Díaz last summer, there was a great deal of scepticism. Too old, too expensive, too little perspective – these were the most common accusations. After the failed courtship of Florian Wirtz, many fans had hoped for a younger, more glamorous solution. Today, these discussions seem almost out of date
On the pitch, Díaz provides the answer week after week. The left winger is a regular under Vincent Kompany and has become an integral part of the starting eleven. With 20 scoring points in 22 competitive matches, he has put up numbers that speak for themselves. Even more important than the sheer statistics, however, is his influence on the game. Díaz brings pace, depth and aggression to the attacking play, pulling opponents out of positions and creating spaces for his teammates
His consistency on the international stage is particularly impressive. Díaz is also one of the defining figures in the Champions League. Three goals in four appearances underline the fact that he can make the difference not only nationally, but also at the highest European level. In its assessment, GOAL explicitly highlighted the fact that Díaz has structurally changed and invigorated Bayern’s attacking play – an argument that put him at the top of the rankings

Another look at the top 10 of the GOAL ranking shows that FC Bayern made particularly good use of the summer transfer market. Jonathan Tah was the second new Munich signing to make it into the best transfers. The transfer of the DFB international from Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer turned out to be a strategic stroke of luck. Tah immediately established himself as a regular player and, together with Dayot Upamecano, forms one of the most stable centre-back duos in Europe. His calmness, experience and physical presence have given the Bayern defence noticeably more stability
Yan Diomande and Florian Thauvin are the other names in the ranking who are also causing a stir. Diomande, who has developed rapidly at RB Leipzig, came in second place and has long been on the radar of numerous top clubs – including Munich. Third place went to Lens star Thauvin, who is impressing as a creative fixture in France
