With the hour mark approaching and Paris Saint-Germain three goals up (5-2), Luis Enrique likely felt that his side were in control. But two goals in three minutes from Bayern Munich reduced PSG’s lead to just one goal and gives them hope as they prepare for the second leg, at the Allianz Arena, next week.
But there is no question of PSG changing their play-style and trying to block out the German side, who have already beaten them once this season, at their own stadium during the league phase. Speaking post-match, Luis Enrique said that he believes more goals are needed if they are to qualify for the final of the UEFA Champions League at Bayern Munich’s expense next Wednesday.
“I asked the question to my staff: how many goals do we need to score in Munich to go through? Minimum three. That’s what we thought,” said Luis Enrique post-match. Les Parisiens do, of course, have good memories at the Allianz Arena, having won the UCL title there last season (5-0 versus Inter Milan). To reach another Champions League final, they may need another performance of the calibre that they produced that night.
