Luis Enrique has indicated he is open to an orange card that would temporarily remove players, seeing it as part of making football more attacking.

According to L'Équipe, the PSG head coach was asked on Thursday about introducing a rugby-style system allowing referees to suspend a player for a set period during a match.

The concept had been championed by Rolland Courbis, who died this week aged 72.

Enrique said it is important for the sport to evolve and to look for ways to make the game more attacking for those who love it. He added that work in this direction should continue.

He went further by recalling Michel Platini’s past proposal for matches to be played with 10 players. He said such ideas should be analysed and their repercussions assessed, and that he remains open to exploring different solutions.
