Luís Pinto lands Benfica midfielder Diogo Prioste on loan at Gil Vicente | OneFootball

Gil Vicente confirmed on Friday the signing of Diogo Prioste on loan from Benfica until the end of 2026/27. The 22-year-old midfielder arrives for his first extended spell in Liga Portugal.

Prioste came through Benfica’s academy, captaining several youth sides. Benfica view the move as a route to regular top-flight minutes for the Portugal Under-21 international in a more demanding environment.

Last season he made two first-team appearances under José Mourinho. With the B team he featured in 27 competitive matches, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.

The midfielder has already joined Luís Pinto’s squad for pre-season work.

Before his arrival, the Barcelos club had secured Ricardo Esgaio from Karagümrük and Danish midfielder Andreas Lausen from Esbjerg, a side in Denmark’s second division.

The loan offers Prioste a platform to gain prominence in Liga Portugal and continue his development, with Benfica monitoring the progress of one of their promising academy midfielders.
