Mallorca’s meeting with Real Madrid brought another flashpoint between Pablo Maffeo and Vinicius, the rivalry resurfacing at Son Moix on Saturday.

"Because of the issue with Vinícius and Real Madrid, obviously that pushes you away, those confrontations with Madrid," said Maffeo on El Partidazo de COPE. "I do not know if I would have gone, but I would not go with Spain. If I had to choose one day, it would be Argentina, I was happy there and they treated me very well."

During the LaLiga EA Sports matchday 30 game in Palma de Mallorca, the Mallorca full-back mimed holding a beach ball, with television footage showing him mouthing 'playa, playa', a nod to taunts Vinícius has faced at some grounds.

The cameras captured the moment, adding to a feud that has intensified in recent seasons on the pitch and beyond.

Maffeo has said he is focused only on the Albiceleste. He is eligible through his Argentine mother and has been called up once.
