Chelsea trio Joao Pedro, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are all playing despite nursing injuries according to reports.

Enzo Maresca is facing mounting injury problems just six games into the new Premier League season, with Chelsea seemingly paying the price for their Club World Cup exploits.

The Blues bulked out their squad in the summer, but that depth is really being tested to it’s limits at this point in time.

Joao Pedro, Fernandez and Caicedo playing through injury

Chelsea are already without Cole Palmer until after the international break, and he’s missed the last two games against Brighton and Benfica.

Tosin Adarabioyo is out with a calf injury and isn’t expected back until after the international break, and the same applies for Wesley Fofana who suffered a concussion against Lincoln.

Maresca also confirmed after the win against Benfica on Tuesday night that Andrey Santos would be out until after the international break.

There has been some good news, with Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia now both back fit, and the duo got their first minutes of the season in the defeat against Brighton.

However, Chelsea have a number of players who are still playing despite not being 100% fit, and Mail Sport have reported Pedro, Caicedo and Fernandez are all playing whilst nursing injuries.

Pedro hasn’t been called up by Brazil for the international break, and it remains to be seen if he will feature on Saturday against Liverpool.

Enzo Maresca needs to make better use of Chelsea squad

Pedro hasn’t looked fully fit for the past few weeks and was on the bench against Benfica, but looked sluggish when he came on.

Tyrique George led the line on Tuesday night, but was very ineffective and for one reason or another Marc Guiu hasn’t played a single minute since being recalled from Sunderland.

Maresca might not rate some of the players at his disposal, but he needs to start using them because running the likes of Pedro into the ground is only going to end in a spell on the sidelines injured.
