After confirmation that Aurelien Tchouameni will miss Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga fixture against Rayo Vallecano due to a muscle injury, the club has received a timely boost in the form of Federico Valverde.
According to a report from AS, Valverde underwent medical tests earlier today after experiencing discomfort during Tuesday’s defeat to Liverpool.
The tests brought positive news, as it was confirmed that the Uruguayan midfielder has not suffered any injury and will be fully available for selection this weekend.
There had been concern within the club’s medical staff after Valverde was seen holding his leg and signalling to the bench during the closing stages of the Champions League tie at Anfield.
He was eventually replaced in the 89th minute, raising fears of a muscle issue.
Speaking after the match, Valverde explained: “I don’t know if it was a muscle strain or something I did that hurt. We’ll see.”

Fortunately, further evaluation revealed that the discomfort was minor and purely precautionary.
As a result, Valverde is expected to return to full training and start against Rayo Vallecano, offering Xabi Alonso a much-needed option amid Real Madrid’s growing injury list.
With Tchouameni sidelined for at least three weeks, Valverde’s availability could prove crucial.
Alonso may use the Uruguayan back in his preferred central midfield role, restoring the high-energy dynamic that has made him one of Madrid’s most influential players.
There is also a tactical dimension to consider. Since Trent Alexander-Arnold featured briefly against his former side, Liverpool, the Englishman is now fit and could start at right-back.
This would free Valverde to push into midfield, where he could line up alongside Eduardo Camavinga, who is expected to operate as the deep-lying pivot in Tchouaméni’s absence.
