Malick Mbaye leaves Metz, signs for Zulte-Waregem in Belgian top flight until 2028

Senegal forward Malick Mbaye, 21, has left Metz for Belgian top-flight side Zulte-Waregem for €0.2m. According to L'Équipe, he has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract running to June 2028.
Mbaye made seven appearances for Metz this season, five in Ligue 1 and two in the Coupe de France.
He won the African Nations Championship with Senegal in February 2023, a competition for home-based players, days before joining Metz from partner academy Génération Foot. The forward has six caps and one goal, but he struggled to establish himself at Metz.
He spent February to June 2025 on loan at Amiens, producing five goals and three assists in 12 Ligue 2 matches.
In total he played 16 senior games for Metz. He registered an assist in the 3-0 win at Biesheim, an N2 side, in the round of 64 of the Coupe de France.
