Deportivo have completed the signing of Leo Román, handing Mallorca a significant windfall that is being closely watched at Ipurua.
According to as.com, Mallorca have moved in recent hours for Jon Mikel Magunagoitia as a replacement for Leo Román.
The Eibar goalkeeper has been among the standout performers in the second tier over the past two seasons and has drawn interest from several clubs, including links to Girona.
Mallorca’s recruitment team tracked the Zornotza-born keeper last summer to increase competition in Primera División, whereas now he would be arriving to take on a leading role.
The fee received for Román gives Mallorca the means to try to prise Jonmi from Ipurua for what is seen as a reasonable price.
Next Wednesday he begins his third consecutive season as Eibar’s number one. After a year acclimatising with Amorebieta, he initially signed through 2026, then on one February an appearances-based clause triggered a one-year extension. The second least-beaten goalkeeper in LaLiga Hypermotion is set to be a free agent in July next year.
