Mamelodi Sundowns have been dealt with a major blow ahead of their Betway Premiership clash against Orbit College on Monday, 19 January.
The defending champions will welcome the rookies at Loftus Versfeld Stadium for the first PSL match of 2026, owing to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hiatus.
Sundowns sit second on the log standings, having picked up 26 points from 13 league outings - one game more than log leaders Orlando Pirates, who are two points clear at the summit.
The Tshwane giants' loosened grip on the championship saw them finish the year trailing for the first time in more than five seasons.
Thus, voices to sack head coach Miguel Cardoso grew louder from the Masandawana faithful, but the Portuguese mentor seemingly retains the backing of the Downs hierarchy.
Now, Sundowns will be eager to resume their domestic commitments with crucial three points, but will have to do without the reliable services of Teboho Mokoena.
The dynamic midfielder will be serving a two-match suspension following his red card against Siwelele FC in December, which also rules him out against Sekhukhune United on 27 January.
