The midfielder’s future at Man City was thrown further into doubt earlier in the summer
Manchester City have submitted their Premier League squad for the 2025-26 season.
Man City along with the other 19 teams in the division were required to submit their list before Friday's deadline.
The rules state that each squad must contain no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria. The rest of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be "Home Grown".
City have named 23 players in the main squad, with the number bolstered by several first-team regulars such as Rico Lewis, Nico O'Reilly and Abdukodir Khusanov still being eligible for the Under-21 section.
As per the Premier League 'for the 2025/26 Premier League season, Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2004.'
The one real surprise from the list Man City have submitted is the inclusion of midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Phillips is somewhat of a forgotten figure at the Etihad Stadium. The 29-year-old spent the last season on loan at Ipswich having failed to impress Guardiola ever since arriving from Leeds in the summer of 2022.
His future at the club was thrown into further doubt earlier in the summer when he was initially left without a squad number ahead of the new season when new signing Tijjani Reijnders was has been handed the No4 shirt.
Phillips has since taken the No44 and while the midfielder has been named in Man City’s Premier League squad, a return to the fold appears unlikely in the short-term as he is currently sidelined after undergoing Achilles surgery.
