Manchester City have been described as "pushing" to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush during the January transfer window.
Marmoush has 30 combined goals and assists in 24 appearances for Frankfurt across all competitions this season, with his 13 Bundesliga goals behind only Harry Kane (14) in the top scorer chart.
The Telegraph writes that City's interest is motivated by Pep Guardiola's desire to inject fresh energy into a squad that has endured a dismal run in recent months. The club is said to feel that Marmoush is well-suited to the Premier League due to his pace and versatility - he played 'number nine', 'number ten' and left-wing roles for Frankfurt during the first half of the campaign.
Liverpool have previously been the club most linked with Marmoush this season, potentially as either a replacement for compatriot Mohamed Salah or competition for the inconsistent Darwin Nunez. Manchester United and Arsenal are also among the sides linked with the 25-year-old.
The Egyptian could cost £50m. But while there has been Frankfurt resistance to him leaving mid-season, it had already been looking increasingly likely he would move before 2025/26.

The Bundesliga side have previously been open in acknowledging their status as a club who will primarily develop and sell players. In that respect, Marmoush cost them nothing when he arrived as a free agent in 2023 after an unremarkable spell at Wolfsburg and is expected to bring a major profit.
"Ultimately, with many players who come to us, we offer them an environment in which they can develop further - knowing full well we would let them go if they developed faster than the club itself," sporting director Markus Krosche revealed in November.
"This is an agreement we make with the boys. That's why we have the opportunity to recruit so many exciting players, because they realise that they can take the next step in Frankfurt."
Referencing past deals like Randal Kolo Muani's 2023 switch to Paris Saint-Germain for €90m, Krosche noted: "Decisions like these have to be made from a global perspective. It's not just about sporting things, but also about more - namely the club as a whole.
"We have a certain market value in mind for each of our players. And if a club comes along that pays this, we will let the player go too. We always try to be prepared for this eventuality."
