OPPOSING MANAGER – VITOR PEREIRA

Pereira started his managerial career at Padroense, coaching at youth level, before working with Porto’s academy.

He would eventually step up to first team manager of the Portuguese giants in what was his first senior coaching position.

He then led Porto to back-to-back Portuguese League titles as well as having a 70%-win rate, which remains the best of any club he has managed.

Pereira then had multiple jobs in countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Brazil before landing himself a job in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers last season.

Wolves were in 19th place at the time, five points from safety, but Pereira managed to keep them up in 16th place, sixteen points above the drop.

After failing to win across the opening ten games of the current Premier League campaign, Pereira left the Molinuex outfit, but soon found himself back in the English top-flight, as he became Forest manager in February.

And Pereira has already secured Forest’s ticket in the last 16 of the Europa League after beating his former club, Fenerbahce, 4-2 on aggregate.

DANGER MEN

Despite Nottingham Forest’s struggles this season, Morgan Gibbs-White has continue to flourish - and he’s on track for double digit goal contributions for the fourth-year running.

The England international has established himself as one of his side’s most reliable players over recent campaigns, accumulating an impressive 51 goal contributions in four league seasons at the Reds.

Forest’s top goalscorer this season, Igor Jesus, could also be a threat to the City backline.

The Brazilian has scored a productive seven goals in five starts in the Europa League this season as well as three goals in two games across the domestic cup competitions.

Despite not replicating that form into the Premier League, just yet, the former Botafogo player is a real nuisance to every defence he faces due to his physicality, hardworking nature and blistering pace.

In our opponents’ engine room, Elliot Anderson has been one of Forest’s best performers this season. The Englishman ranks higher than any other player in the league for duels won, a remarkable 223, 46 higher than his closest competitor, James Tarkwoski of Everton.

Anderson has also played the third most minutes of any outfield player in the Premier League this season and has had the most touches bar none, reflecting the significance of his role in the Forest squad.

All stats are correct as of Friday February 27 18:30 (UK).

PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW

Pep Guardiola will be facing the media from 12:30 (UK) on Tuesday 3 March, where the City boss will provide all the latest team news updates, and you can follow it live on our website and app.

PREVIOUS MEETING

In December’s reverse fixture at the City Ground, Rayan Cherki netted a dramatic 83rd-minute winner in a 2-1 success on the road.

After a goalless first half,  it took only three minutes after the restart for City to break the deadlock as Tijjani Reijnders collected the ball and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.

City nearly doubled our advantage in rapid fire succession, but Cherki’s effort was tipped onto the post by John Victor. Unfortunately, our narrow lead was cancelled out after Omari Hutchinson reached an Igor Jesus cross to put the game back in the balance.

But as the clock ticked into the final 10 minutes, we restored our advantage.

A corner was whipped towards the back post where Josko Gvardiol was there to set up Cherki with a perfectly weighted, headed pass.

The Frenchman ran up to the ball and struck it into the bottom left corner, on the half-volley.

LAST TIME OUT

City took all three points home following a hard-fought 1-0 over Leeds at Elland Road.

Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time after Rayan Ait Nouri set up our number 42 who dispatched from close range. That was Ghanaian’s sixth goal for the Club since signing in January.

Our in-form defence managed to see the game out, closing the gap on the summit to two only points.
