Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly insisted that he is “grateful for everything” after being named the club’s Player of the Season.

It is just the 21-year-old’s second campaign with the City first team, after breaking into the side during the 2024/45 season. He made 44 starts in all competitions, becoming an integral part of the side during Pep Guardiola’s final season at the club.

After an impressive campaign, where the youngster was honoured as the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season, the Englishman was also voted as City’s Player of the Season. “No, not at all,” O’Reilly answered on whether he expected the season to go how it did for him. “I’ve enjoyed every minute of this season.

“I’m thankful for all the fans, all my teammates, all the staff who helped me on my journey. I just need to keep going.”

In a campaign littered with individual milestones, the left-back also received his first senior England call-up, earning his first senior cap in November. He has since been named in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad and will fly out to the USA with the Three Lions next month.

Asked for a favourite moment, he said: “I’m not sure, there’s a lot. As I said, I’m just grateful for everything.”

Back in March, O’Reilly scored both goals at Wembley as City defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final. Asked if that was his finest hour so far, he admitted: “Yeah, you could say so.”
