Pep Guardiola left many fans and pundits somewhat shocked this afternoon after making the call to omit Man City talisman Erling Haaland from his matchday XI, but his faith has already been repaid with an early opener at the Etihad.
It took just six minutes for versatile forward Omar Marmoush to break the deadlock in front of home support, calmly netting his first league goal of the season in the process.
With that, the 26-year-old former Eintracht Frankfurt standout bagged his 8th goal since arriving from the Bundesliga side a year ago, still a far cry from the level of return previously seen from the Cairo native.
But it was still a historic moment for the Egyptian international, becoming the first player in Premier League history to see all of his goals fly into the back of the net at the same ground.
Could Marmoush still have a key role to play as Guardiola's troops look to run down table-toppers Arsenal in the second half of the season?
