Man City submit new PL legal claim over 'discriminating' rules | OneFootball

Manchester City have reportedly launched fresh legal action against the Premier League, according to several reports on Friday afternoon.

The Times, Daily Mail and more state that the club are unhappy with changes to the league's sponsorship rules, which they claim 'discriminate' against them.

The defending champions won a case against the Premier League last year when a tribunal found that Associated Party Transaction regulations went against competition law before a November vote saw top flight clubs vote to amend those rules.

City's legal team have reportedly insisted that those amended regulations 'discriminate' against them, while allowing several rivals, including Arsenal who are namechecked among others, to enjoy an unfair advantage in relation to shareholder loans.

"The rules as they are fail to meet the requirements of transparency, objectivity, precision and proportionality," City have claimed as part of their assault on the issue. "They are liable to distort competition."

The same panel which ruled in City's favour last year will again make a final decision and should they emerge victorious once more, it would likely see the league's financial rules face further uncertainty.

This matter is separate from the Premier League's 130-charge case against the Cityzens for alleged breaches of financial rules.

The Premier League have not commented on the matter.
