Manchester City have been struck down with a fair few injuries recently as they prepare to take on West Ham on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side have lost some key men in recent weeks, including in-form left-winger Jeremy Doku and centre-back John Stones to add to the absences of Rodri and Mateo Kovacic.

Youngster Oscar Bobb will also be out for a prolonged period after he suffered a hamstring injury against Brentford in the Carabao Cup victory in midweek.

That is then added to with the Africa Cup of Nations absentees Rayan Ait-Nouri and Omar Marmoush, who have jetted off to represent Algeria and Egypt respectively.

That leaves Guardiola with a fairly bare bones squad going into the festive period, and the Spaniard revealed in his pre-match press conference that none of his injured stars would be fit enough to return this weekend.

Otherwise, it is likely business as usual for City.

Gianluigi Donnarumma will return between the sticks after James Trafford was given a rare run-out against Brentford, and Matheus Nunes is likely to continue at right-back.

Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias seem immovable in the heart of defence, and Abdukodir Khusanov’s shaky display on Wednesday is unlikely to earn him a second start in succession here.

Nico O’Reilly continues to go from strength to strength at left-back, and he was brought off to be rested against the Bees.

In the engine room, it is likely to be more of the same, with Bernardo Silva, Nico Gonzalez and either Tijjani Reijnders or Rayan Cherki as the more advanced of the trio.

Cherki starred on Wednesday, although Guardiola did say that the Frenchman was a player that “sometimes you love, sometimes you hate”.

Phil Foden was introduced off the bench in midweek inside 20 minutes as Bobb hobbled off, so he wasn’t afforded the rest that was initially planned, but with Doku’s absence, it is likely that he will be back in the side.

The same could be said of Savinho, who scored on his starting return, while Erling Haaland did get a night off and will start here.

Predicted Man City XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Silva, Nico; Cherki, Foden, Savinho; Haaland

Injured: Rodri, Doku, Kovacic, Bobb, Stones
