Erling Haaland and Rodri getting closer to first-team returns with FA Cup final approaching
Manchester City are unlikely to have Erling Haaland back against Wolves tonight, but the striker has now returned to training.
The Norwegian has not featured since suffering an ankle injury in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Bournemouth in March, missing City's last four matches across all competitions which has seen them reach the FA Cup final and strengthen their grip on Champions League qualification.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Pep Guardiola said he "doesn't think" Haaland will be fit for the visit of in-form Wolves, while long-term absentee Rodri is also back in training but less close to a comeback.
“We are really pleased Erling is back and Rodri is back in the training sessions,” the City boss said. “The moment the physio and doctor say that Rodri can start to play minutes and after that he will start to play minutes.
"But the doctors have to tell me... When the doctor says Rodri is stable and he can play, after that he is going to come back.”
Omar Marmoush will, therefore, continue to lead the line for City and Kevin De Bruyne will hope to be recalled after starting the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest last weekend on the bench.
James McAtee could also come in, having served a suspension at Wembley, though the likes of Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden will have other ideas.
Further back, Stegan Ortega should continue in goal with Ederson likely still sidelined. Nathan Ake, John Stones and Oscar Bobb are also out.
