Man City youngster signs new deal – and reveals ambition to play more in midfield | OneFootball

Manchester City youngster Rico Lewis has signed a new deal with the club.

The 20-year-old has made 97 appearances for City after graduating from the academy and his contract extension takes him up until 2030.

“There’s nothing else going on in my head apart from happiness,” Lewis said on his new deal.

“It’s a proud moment for myself, my family and all this stuff. The main thought is now cracking on and getting ready with the season.

“It’s a really good moment for me but I just want to keep on enjoying my football and get the season started.”

The youngster has played most of his football at full-back, but has revealed his ambition to play more centrally in future.

“I like playing in midfield,” he said.

“I think it’s easier than changing from full-back to midfield, or midfield to full-back in terms of running. I like playing in midfield, I like being part of the game more often but I’m happy to play wherever as long as I can help and contribute to the team.”
