Manchester United legend Denis Law has sadly passed aged 84 as revealed by a family statement that was shared by the club’s official website.
“Everyone at Manchester United is mourning the loss of Denis Law, the King of the Stretford End, who has passed away, aged 84.
“With 237 goals in 404 appearances, he will always be celebrated as one of the club’s greatest and most beloved players. The ultimate goal-scorer, his flair, spirit and love for the game made him the hero of a generation.
“Our deepest condolences go out to Denis’ family and many friends. His memory will live on forever more.”
Law was the last surviving member of the “Trinity” that brought the club to new heights in the 1960s. Alongside Sir Bobby Charlton and Georges Best, the Aberdeen native spearheaded the Red Devils’ charge towards a host of trophies, including the club’s first-ever European Cup in 1968.

The Scottish bomber started his career at Huddersfield before moving to Manchester City in 1960. He only spent a single campaign with the Cityzens before going abroad for an experience at Torino, which also lasted for a single year.
Law was then poached by Man Utd in 1962, and this is where his career truly took off. The Scotsman gradually cemented himself as one of the deadliest bombers of his generation. He spent the next 11 years serving the club’s cause, before making a return to Man City in 1973 for the final year of his elusive career.
As fate would have, his last career goal proved to the be final nail in Man United’s relegation coffin, something he regretted for years.
The club legend was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia in 2021, so he’s been away from the public eye in recent years.
Ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash between Man Utd and Brighton, there will be a minute’s silence to pay tribute to the Red Devil’s third-highest goal scorer.
