Manchester United are keeping tabs on the development of the Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.
The 23-year-old is highly rated across England, and he has been outstanding for the Championship outfit. The midfielder has flourished under the management of former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.
Journalist Graeme Bailey has now revealed that there is an awful lot of interest in the player, and Manchester United are one of the clubs that have watched him this past season. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United follow up on their interest with an offer to sign the player.
They need more than quality in the central midfield, and the 23-year-old would be a long-term acquisition. Bailey feels that an offer of around £20-25 million would be hard to turn down for the Championship side. Ideally, they will want to hold onto their prospect, but they could be tempted to cash in if there is a suitable proposal on the table.

Bailey revealed on EFL Analysis: “He’s doing well, and Middlesbrough will have a price on him. If someone comes in with £20-25m, it’ll be very hard for Middlesbrough to turn that down. It’s pure profit. “There is an awful lot of interest in him. Obviously, he is at the U21 Euros with England now and doing well there. Do I expect Hackney to still be at Boro come September? I’d be surprised at this point if he was still there. “So yes, I do expect Hackney will go. The likes of Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham, Man United, and West Ham have watched him.”
Hackney could be tempted to move to the Premier League as well. Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the opportunity to join them will be quite exciting.

The Englishman has been described as a “super player” by Chris Wilder recently. He has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in the top flight, and he will look to establish himself as an important player for Manchester United if he joins the club.
Wilder said: “I’ve watched Hayden Hackney from afar, seeing his career flourish. There’s no better teacher for him than Michael, and he’ll enjoy the way Middlesbrough play. He’s a super player.”
The Red Devils must look to plug the gaps in their squad this summer, and signing a quality midfielder will be one of their priorities.
