Man Utd announce signing of Swedish ‘rare find’ – WSL transfer round-up

Manchester United have signed their third star of the window with the arrival of Ellen Wangerheim announced on Friday, following the signings of Lea Schuller and Hanna Lundkvist.
The Sweden striker made over 100 senior appearances for Hammarby and scored 17 goals for her former club to help them to a second-place finish in the Swedish league in November.
“I am so excited. It feels amazing to be here. It’s a huge club with big history,” said the 21-year-old. “So sitting here in this shirt is a proud moment for me. It’s always been my dream to move abroad and to play in another country, in Europe and in a really big football club.”
United boss Marc Skinner described the talented striker as a “rare find”, saying: “She is 21 but has so much experience already. She had 3,000 minutes in 2025 but still sits in the category of us being able to add lots of quality to her football too.”
Meanwhile, Rachel Williams has become the latest arrival at the King Power Stadium. Leicester City announced the signing of the 38-year-old striker on a one-and-a-half-year deal from Manchester United on Friday.
Returning to the club where she started her senior career in 2004, Williams said, “I started my career here and I’ve always said I’d like to come back. Leicester is my hometown.
“I feel like I still have a lot to offer the club and the opportunity to come back is something I’ve been looking forward to doing,” she added.
Elsewhere, Manchester City have welcomed midfielder Sam Coffey from NWSL side Portland Thorns. Part of the USA team that won Olympic Gold in Paris 2024, and already with almost 50 senior caps under her belt, the American has signed a deal until summer 2029 in Manchester.
Currently the only January signing for Andree Jeglertz’s side, the holding midfielder has been named in three NWSL Best XI’s, including in 2023 when she featured alongside new Man City teammate Kerolin.
Finally, West Ham have have sold defender Amber Tysiak to Union Berlin for an undisclosed fee. The Belgian spent almost three years in England. The Hammers have welcomed 19-year-old Ria Bose from Sporting CP, who joins on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
