Andre Onana is on course to join Trabzonspor again for a second successive season away from Manchester United on loan.

The goalkeeper made 33 appearances for the Turkish club last season and is close to agreeing a deal for a second spell there, rather than returning to Old Trafford.

Onana lost his place at United at the start of last season, when he was dropped by former head coach Ruben Amorim, and though Michael Carrick has taken over, there has been no way back for the Cameroon international.

In his absence, the 2025 signing Senne Lammens has established himself as United’s first choice and while they may sign another goalkeeper this summer, they opted not to use Onana as the deputy to the Belgian.

However, loaning him out again means United will not recoup a transfer fee yet for the £43m signing, who joined from Inter in 2023.

Onana was bought by Erik ten Hag, his former manager at Ajax, but his two years in the United goal featured a series of errors. His last appearance for the club so far came in the Carabao Cup defeat to League Two Grimsby last August.

Onana, who has two years left on his deal with United, helped Trabzonspor finish third in the Turkish Super Lig and win the Turkish Cup last season.
