AC Milan have been forced to choose between Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford and Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.

In recent days, the Rossoneri have emerged as serious candidates to sign Rashford who hasn’t played a minute for the Red Devils over their last seven fixtures across all competitions.

The England international has been repeatedly excluded from the squad by new head coach Ruben Amorim, and his departure appears to be inevitable.

While several clubs have been linked with the 27-year-old, Milan advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic is looking to give the Italian giants the upper hand in the race thanks to his good rapport with Rashford dating back to his stint at Old Trafford.

However, Milan have a problem on their hands, as their interest in Rashford clashes with their pursuit of Walker who is on his way out of Man City after requesting a transfer. That’s because Italian clubs can only register up to three non-EU players and one extra from the UK or Albania if they have no current non-EU players in their squad.

Hence, the seven-time Champions League winners have been left with a major choice to make.

But according to Sky Sports, Milan have rendered their decision, prioritising the signing of Rashford ahead of Walker.

Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Serie A giants will be able to reach an agreement with Man Utd over the English striker. This would likely be an initial loan deal with an option to buy. Nevertheless, the player’s hefty wages could be the biggest obstacle, as the Rossoneri cannot afford to pay Rashford the £325,000 he currently earns at United on a weekly basis.

Hence, the Premier League giants might have to cover part of the player’s salary if they wish to push the deal through.
