Manchester United are reportedly following Santos teenager Robinho Junior with great interest, but they will have to overcome the ever-growing competition for his services.
The 17-year-old is the son of former Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan winger, Robinho, who was considered one of the most explosive talents of his generation.
The 41-year-old has recently fallen on hard times and is currently serving a prison sentence. Nevertheless, his son is only just getting started, and has already emerged as one of the most exciting young teenagers in Brazil, one who’s already tipped for a ‘great future’.
In an update for CentreDevils, Man Utd insider Sully revealed that the Red Devils are keeping close tabs on the Brazilian teenager.
As the source explains, Santos are currently enduring financial troubles, which could prompt them to sell some of the most prized assets as soon as possible. Therefore, Robinho Junior has been identified as one of the possible sacrificial lambs.

The teenager has only become a permanent member of the senior squad earlier this year. His contract will expire in 2027, but it includes a release clause worth €100 million.
However, this figure certainly doesn’t reflect Robinho’s current market value. Hence, the report assures that Santos are willing to sell the player for a significantly lower figure, but without specifying the exact asking price.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that MUFC aren’t alone in the race, as Chelsea, Inter Milan, Espanyol, and Galatasaray are some of the other clubs interested in the winger.
Under the tutelage of the club’s Head of Recruitment, Christopher Vivell, Man United have been developing a habit for poaching wonderkids, not only from England and the rest of Europe, but also from South America.
The Reds snapped up Paraguayan teenager Diego Leon last winter, while Colombian talent Cristian Orozco is on his way to join the club.
Therefore, it remains to be seen if the young Robinho will be the next in line.
