Manchester United have received a significant injury boost ahead of the Europa League final on Wednesday with Joshua Zirkzee, Diogo Dalot and Leny Yoro all involved in team training.
But Mathjis de Ligt once again missed out and looks unlikely to feature in the final against Tottenham on Wednesday.
The Dutch defender was forced off after taking a knock in the defeat to Brentford and has not played since.
But Zirkzee’s surprise return comes as a potentially huge boost for boss Ruben Amorim.
The Netherlands forward has not played since last month after limping off against Newcastle with a hamstring injury, with Amorim revealing afterwards that he could miss the rest of the season.
But he joined Dalot and Yoro in team training ahead of the clash in Bilbao.
Dalot has been sidelined in recent weeks with a calf injury, which Amorim also said could force him to miss the rest of the season.
But the Portugal international could return to the squad to face Spurs, along with fellow defender Yoro, who missed the defeat to Chelsea on Friday.
Speaking about his injured players last week, Amorim said: “I don’t know if they’re going to be available, we’ll try to push, it’s a final, all the players want to play really bad.”
Jonny Evans was also part of the squad which trained at Carrington before travelling to Bilbao.
The veteran defender has not played for United since last year due to persistent injury problems.
Wednesday’s Europa League final offers both United and Spurs a route into the Champions League next season despite their terrible Premier League campaigns.
Spurs go into the game sitting in 17th in the league, while United are 16th.
Tottenham are set to be without the trio of Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall for the game through injury.
