Barcelona and Manchester United are still yet to reach an agreement over Marcus Rashford’s future.

The forward is now in the final weeks of his loan spell at Camp Nou, after which he will return to Manchester unless Barcelona activate his buy clause.

Barcelona and Marcus Rashford: The state of play

Indeed, the Blaugrana have the option of signing Rashford permanently for just £26 million this summer, but are thought to be reluctant to shell out such a sum in one transaction.

Instead, they’re hoping to try and negotiate a lower fee with United or, alternatively, take him on loan for another season. The Red Devils will rebuff both without a second thought, as they are ready to facilitate the 28-year-old’s exit in the window, even if it means finding another suitor.

From the Barcelona faithful’s perspective, it seems as though the majority are hoping that their club manage to get a deal over the line.

What do Barcelona fans think of Rashford – and how is he faring ahead of the final month?

BBC Sport spoke to a handful of supporters in Catalonia this week, and one hailed Rashford as ‘the best left winger in the world’.

Another added: “He’s special. He’s a really good talent.”

Although Rashford, as well as the rest of his teammates, was unable to make an impact in last night’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Atletico Madrid, he has enjoyed a pretty tremendous campaign up to this point.

Should Barcelona retain or even extend their seven-point lead atop the table in their final league fixtures, he will be crowned a La Liga champion next month, having already won the Spanish Super Cup following a 3-2 triumph over Real Madrid at the start of the year.

There is, however, work to do if the side are to progress in the UCL; they have a two-goal deficit to overturn next Tuesday evening at the Wanda Metropolitano – a place where Atleti have not tasted defeat in a knockout tie since March 1997.
