After losing at home to Roses rivals Leeds in their last outing at Old Trafford, Manchester United will be particularly to right that wrong with victory over Brentford on Monday night.

United responded to the 2-1 Leeds loss with a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge that returned Michael Carrick’s men to third place in the table. Now to wipe out that hard-to-stomach defeat at the scene of the crime.

Brentford are on a six-match unbeaten run although their last five top-flight matches have all ended in draws to dampen hopes of a European place. A win over United could reignite them although the Bees’ run-in includes trips to Manchester City and Liverpool.

Man Utd team news

Harry Magurie is available again after completing a ban and should line up in central defence.

Lenny Yoro could partner him there following injury after United had to play Ayden Heaven and full-back Noussair Mazraoui in central defence at Chelsea.

Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Dorgu are back in training but Monday’s game may come too soon.

Brentford team news

Jordan Henderson will again miss out even though he’s edging closer to a return.

Rico Henry and Vitaly Janelt could also feature before the end of the campaign but Fabio Carvalho, Jay Dasilva and Antoni Milambo are definitely out for the season.

Man Utd v Brentford odds

Manchester United are 17/20 for the win which would strengthen their grip on a Champions League spot even further.

Brentford are 3/1 to beat United for the second time this season after winning 3-1 at the Gtech back in September. The Draw is 14/5.

Man Utd v Brentford prediction

United have scored in their last 21 Premier League matches so we can virtually pencil them in for a goal.

But their ambitions should be much more than that after Carrick’s side were caught cold in that first 45 minutes against Leeds.

Brentford have failed to score in two of their last three away games and looked lacklustre in the 0-0 home draw with Fulham last time. Perhaps a long season is catching up with a depleted squad.

The hosts at just under Even money seems more than fair.

Bruno Fernandes to register an assist is a bet we keep recommending but, rightly so, as it lands time after time.

The Portuguese playmaker has 18 assists in the Premier League this season, way clear of anyone else, and is 5/2 to set up another here. At those odds, it looks a no-brainer.
