Leeds United resume their Premier League survival bid at arch rivals Manchester United on Monday night, with fresh injuries creating significant doubts. Across both camps there are three out and seven doubts, with a Whites player expected back.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Michael Carrick’s side have not played since the Friday before the international break, a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth decided by Junior Kroupi’s penalty. By the eight pm kick-off at Old Trafford it will be 23 days without a match, despite which United still have injuries and a suspension.
Benjamin Sesko remains a doubt after withdrawing from international duty in March, though he could return. Lisandro Martinez has missed five games with a calf problem and is thought to be close, but remains a doubt.
Matthijs de Ligt is a major doubt and effectively out. The Dutch centre-back has not featured since November because of a back issue and no timescale has been given as United try to bring him back quickly.
There is also a slight doubt over Bryan Mbeumo, who started at Bournemouth but was withdrawn at half-time with a knock, then stepped away from Cameroon duty. He is expected to be available.
For Leeds, Gabriel Gudmundsson missed Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final at West Ham with a minor groin problem and was not risked. Joe Rodon rolled his ankle early in the second half at the London Stadium and came off, with fitness to be assessed and time on his side before Monday.
