Manchester City head coach Andrée Jeglertz says that his side are always hunting for more despite their successful start to the season.

The Cityzens are six points clear at the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League table and are well-placed to end their long wait to regain the league title.

It is down to the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal to hunt the league leaders down, however, Manchester City boss Jeglertz sees his side as hunters rather than being hunted.

“I haven’t seen any difference,” Jeglertz said when speaking in a Manchester City press conference about the mentality of his squad since going top of the table. “This group is hunting all of the time because they’re eager to become a little bit better. Even after winning 3-0 at Leicester, there are always things that we can improve, things we can get better at. It’s almost like we are still hunting the perfect game, the perfect performance.

“I don’t see any thoughts that someone else is chasing you, it’s still for us to become a little bit better. I still think we are hunting.”

Aston Villa are up next for Manchester City at The Joie Stadium on Sunday. The Villans have taken points from Arsenal and Manchester United in the first half of the season but Jeglertz is not changing his side’s approach.

He said “They’re a good team but we don’t do anything differently for this game than we do [for any other]. We look at what they’re good at and identify their weaknesses. They’ve done well away against strong teams.

“We are fully-aware that they’re a good team but at the same time, we are a pretty decent team. We have a good opportunity [to win] if we do the things that we’ve done well so far. They’re a strong opponent but it’s been like that in all games.”

A victory will ensure Manchester City remain at least six points clear going into the winter break. Jeglertz says that his side are only thinking about winning this weekend.

He said “We haven’t thought about what happens if we lose, it’s more like [looking at] all of the possibilities we are getting if we win the game. That’s what we are thinking of and if it’s in the other direction, we take it from there.

“Right now, we are in great form and we’ve had a great season, so far. We want to finish it off in a great way on Sunday and also in the cup next weekend. We are definitely eager to finish off well.”
